Satellite Island Salmon And Oyster Farm

Satellite Island has been involved in aquaculture in Tasmania since the early 1960s. It has had some of Tasmania’s largest oyster leases in Southern Tasmania on the Middleton Shoal and at Isthmus Bay. Satellite Island was one of the founding Salmon farms in the Salmon Industry when it began in Tasmania in the1980s. The business has produced salmon for the local market and for export to Japan, China and South East Asia. It has also produced oysters for the local and international markets.
